Leviticus 21
Leviticus chapter 21 provides special responsibilities required of the priests of Israel. The chapter begins, “A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people that die, except a close relative“. Priests were not only prevented from touching the dead, but they were not even permitted to be in the same room.
